What Is Capacity When Referring to Laundry Appliances?
Washing machine capacity is given in kilograms; it refers to the maximum load weight a particular model can hold. The larger the capacity, the more items you’ll be able to wash at once. Capacity usually refers to cottons, so it’s worth remembering that this usually refers to cotton programs only; the usable capacity for other cycles may differ.
How Should I Measure for My Washing Machine and Dryer?
Washing machine dimensions can vary, so you should always double check the width, height and depth of your washing machine against the space that’s available.
Always Include Clearance
Remember to factor in clearance space; washing machines require a gap of at least 50mm at the back and 25mm at either side, to accommodate piping.
Stack to Fit in Small Spaces
Stacking kits can be used to fit washers and dryers on top of one another if space is at a premium in your home.
Make Sure Machines Will Stack

What Are the Main Washing Machine Programs I Should Know?
It might sound obvious, but it’s worth getting to grips with the different wash programs out there to ensure you’re running the best cycle for your load.
Cottons
Cotton programs allow you to wash your cottons without damaging the fabric. Cotton fabrics are usually washed at a higher temperature, especially when it comes to bedding as cotton can take more agitation and spinning.
Synthetics
Synthetic fabrics like polyester and viscose, are usually a little more delicate than cottons, this cycle washes at a lower temperature with a slower spin.
Anti-Crease Functionality
Anti-crease modes are ideal if you want to lighten up your ironing load. This programme causes the drum to move slightly after a cycle have finished to reduce creasing.
Eco Drum Clean
Cleaning setting like this remove dirt and bacteria from the drum itself. Select this program about once every 40 washes - minus your clothes and any detergent - to keep your machine in a good condition.
What Is a Heat Pump Tumble Dryer and Are They Energy Efficient?
There are three main types of tumble dryers: vented, condenser and heat pump. A heat pump tumble dryer is a type of condenser dryer that works by reheating circulating air, rather than warming it with a heating element, making them more cost-effective, and gentle on your laundry too. Samsung dryers use heat pump technology as standard. Heat pump models are the most energy-efficient on the market because they re-use (not release) warm air, like other dryers. This means use just half the energy of conventional dryers, making them kinder to the environment. In fact, you can save over £300 a year with a Samsung Heat Pump Tumble Dryer*.
