Brilliant no fuss machine bean to cup coffee machine
I had been looking for a bean to cup coffee machine for some time and had been considering the Sage Barista Express. I am so pleased I plumped for the slightly more expensive Impress- Express. The main benefit is the way the Impress- Express grinds and dispatches the coffee without any mess. I think this fully justifies the extra cost. This is a brilliantly engineered piece of kit. Simple things impress me like the fact that you don’t need to move the machine to fill it with water. I am still learning to make a variety of coffees but the machine is very intuitive and easy to use. This is not a cheap purchase but, in my view, worth every penny.

Delicious Coffee
We have had the machine for a month or so so far and the quality of the coffee is superb. We used to have a bean to cup machine (which the Express Impress is not) and the final resulting coffee is so much better and much much closer to a local coffee shop. It takes a bit of practice to get used to using it and the dialing in is tricky to master. I am still on a steep learning curve for dialing in and mastering the Latte art. All good fun if you want to dip your toes in to proper coffee making without going the full Barista way. Highly recommend for a top quality coffee and a bit of learning fun on the way.

Good but could be better
I have ha quite a few coffee machines and in fact owned a restaurant in which I owned a truly fantastic Rancilio machine. After looking for quite a while, this machine was short listed. It’s a good machine but still not quite there. Taking into account the cost it’s as I say good but wastes so much water going into the bottom. It also asks for cleaning very soon after only a few coffees. The factory set temperature could also be higher.

Just what I wanted!
As I’m new to coffee machines and wanted to learn the basics, I spent a lot of time looking into the options and finally decided on the Sage Express Impress. I definitely made the right decision. I wanted a machine that didn’t do it all for me, I wanted a certain amount of control, especially with the milk texturing, but I also wanted a bit of assistance with dosing etc. this is exactly what I got with the Express Impress and after two weeks (and a few hundred coffees!), I couldn’t be happier - I’m starting to understand dialling in and my latte art is now moving on from a white blob, to something that resembles a shape - highly recommended to all who are new to espresso machines and want to learn!

Nice machine
Having used a Sage Bambino plus and separate Sage grinder for the last 4 years, I didn’t expect too much of a difference in the quality of coffee. However, by comparison, the extraction is superior, in that the coffee tastes full bodied…….as well as deeper crema. Also, the milk steamer is superb which delivers delicious sweet microfoam.
My only gripe is the steam on/off control on the side of the machine which I find stiff and awkward to engage to the off position.
Overall a great investment which should last a few years making twice daily coffees.

Great machine for a newbie
After a not too steep a learning curve I am making great coffee. The impress system is like having training wheels on a bike. Excellent build quality and consistent performance. Looks great. Things I have learned.
Always use the plastic guard on the front of the drip tray, it is vital as a cup base has marked the metallic finish. Wish it had a low water warning as it seems to use lots of water and runs dry half way through a shot.
Three weeks in I am getting used to it I think it makes great coffee. Be warned,, it becomes addictive.

Perfect coffee
Good well made quality espresso maker. It's very simple to set up. The instructions are clear and very easy to understand.
Lots of helpful video tutorials online for those wanting more indepth knowledge. It took a bit of time to get the perfect grind setting for my chosen coffee beans before I could make the best tasting coffee. The steamer wand froth the milk to your perfect consistency.
Whether you use fresh roasted or supermarket coffee beans, you can get a great tasting coffee from this machine in minutes.

Nice but..
Brews an excellent espresso though it's not very hot. Looked at the manual only to find that the section about changing temperature has been cut and pasted from another machine - "The machine will beep once and display the current temperature". Wrong, there is no temperature indicator! Thankfully the build quality is better than the manual. I shouldn't have to go to the internet to correct this.
Should have been supplied with a stand to position small espresso cups underneath the portafilter.
