VERY DISAPPOINTING
I did my research before I bought this product and was aware it was challenging to set up. Nothing could have prepared me for just how challenging and awkward it is. You need perfect eyesight to see the control panel. It is tedious to navigate and understand, even following countless YouTube videos. Also it is not obvious when you are buying Zen over Zen plus that you will have NO nature sounds. Very disappointing as I have always used Roberts Radio alarm clocks and was really looking forward to this.

Nice looking clock radio
When I first plugged in this radio my first thought was that the clock display wasn’t very bright, however on installing this in the bedroom I found the display to be bright but not too bright as to cause a distraction. The reason for this is not to disturb your sleep by having a bright display and the fact when at its dimmest when touching any of the buttons the display brightness increases so that you can see the time and the function of the touch buttons.
I find the buttons to be a bit small for my fingers and sometimes hit the wrong button.
Auto tune worked a treat and found all the stations I require however setting the tuner presets can be a bit awkward as instructions not very clear, have not yet worked out how to overwrite an existing tuner preset.
Sound quality good and loud enough.
Extra advantage is that is powered from a suppled USB adapter or can be powered from a USB hub so if you have a mains socket with integrated usb outlets it can be powered from that to save using up a mains socket.
I have this in the white version which fits in nicely with our appliances and like the cloth speaker grill instead of a plastic speaker grill.
Well pleased with it and getting used to the size of the touch buttons.

Excellent alarm clock.
I have loved my Zen. Pros: It has been a breath of fresh air compared to my previous alarm clock radio. The Zen has a dimmable clock face which means I no longer have to hide my alarm clock as it dims when I turn of my lights. The sound is amazing I have it tuned to may favourite station and in the morning wake up to the voices I know so well. The buzzer function is brilliant when you need that sharp wake up. The sound quality has been super I turned up the volume and could here my favourite music while enjoying my shower something I couldn’t do with my previous alarm clock as the sound couldn’t reach me and would go fuzzy when turned up full. Something I’m glad to say the Zen doesn’t struggle with I had it full blast to really see if it could cope and it did! I have to admit I have been spoilt by the Zen I won’t be buying anything else in the future. I love that in the night should I need the clock face to wake up I just touch it and within seconds it dims once more. I have also enjoyed the sleep function listening to radio as I sleep and it slowly lulling me to sleep and fades down after what ever time I give usually 30 minutes is enough. Last but not least the charging function was brilliant I was a bit worried, as most of the gadgets say charging function then you read small print that it won’t charge your phone. I was pleasantly surprised that the Zen did come the morning no extra plugs and a charged phone ready for the day. The battery function saved my bacon last week when we had electricity outage the alarm went off when needed and I didn’t miss my train. The only con I have is I wish I had the DAB version I live very close to several RAF bases and that interferes with the FM signal. So if you do get static stations sometimes go for DAB version it will be worth it I wish I had it as you also have more station choices.

Excellent, albeit a bit fiddly
Bought this to replace a rather cranky (and cheap!) clock radio that we have had for a while. Didn't go for the Zen+ simply because we live in an area of poor reception and have found that DAB is unreliable.
That said, the FM reception on this is fine and the sound is really good, clear, rounded and with decent but not overwhelming bass. The Zen looks really good on our bedside table and is nice and compact. The clock display at night is clear and pretty much spot on - bright enough to see easily but not too bright so that it disturbs your sleep.
As some others have said, initial set up is a little fiddly but nothing that a bit of patience and perseverance won't overcome, particularly since once it is done, it is done.
I have given 4 stars only because the controls are a little fiddly and the section of the display across the bottom of the screen, which displays day of the week,. alarm status etc is microscopically small.
Overall, it is a nice looking object, it works well as a clock/radio, sound quality is great. Controls a littly fiddly

Smart Radio
It is a fab little radio and smart looking. Would have given 5 stars if the instructions on setting it up were clearer.....it was a bit hit and miss to be honest.
