So frustrating and dissapointing
Really disappointing and annoying. Connection via Blue tooth drops out constantly. Ordered a cable but the one that it tells you to order in the manual is incorrect, ordered the right cable and it was much better but it seems to be impossible to get the sound in sync with the picture no matter how much I play with the lag settings. Also constantly announces that it's lost connection to the wifi. Detailed instructions are non existent. Has forced me to return both TV and sound bar. Would be interested in what the fixes are for these issues as I have done a lot searching but while everyone seems to have these issues I haven't been able to find anyone that has fixed them.

Good Quality Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The soundbar is easy to set up, easy to learn to use and looks sleek. We have ours resting on the shelf in front of the TV, so wires hide very easily.
This repaced a full 5 channel surround sound wired system and the difference is minimal. The remote control is a nice small size and rechargeable - no worries on batteries, which is a nice touch
We have a 6 year old Samsung UHD TV - the annoying bit is that whenever we turn the TV on it doesn't automatically sync - we have to manually connect it, which is annoying but not a show stopper - but worth checking your TV maybe if its not brand new.

Poor samsung product knowledge and service
The soundbar is probably ok, but due to issues with it i haven't been able to use it properly. However, samsung "experts' in customer support are of no use whatsoever if like me you have an issue with anything. I have just been on the phone to them for over an hour just to find out what cable is needed to link it via HDMI ARC with the 8k TV i purchased with it. They kept telling me it is a standard HDMI, then mini HDMI and then finally said it was faulty so needed replacing. Then the fun starts as because it was promotion, they can't replace it. I am given another number, which when called doesn't exist. I call samsung back and again I am on the phone for 45 minutes whilst we discuss what the fault is and how I know its faulty etc. Finally, they have agreed to arrange pick-up of the soundbar but I will have to wait 8 to 10 days after they receive it to get my replacement which I think is a joke. I really think Samsung should include this cable with the soundbar or have a link to purchasing one. I am fairly confident when I receive my replacement the size of the HDMI port will be the same and the whole saga will start over again. If I Finally ever get this sorted I will write an update or new review but as it stands DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Slim soundbar but big sound
Samsung Soundbar S801B – First Impressions: We have a Samsung QN800B 65 TV and this soundbar is an ideal accompaniment. Consisting of the extremely slim soundbar and a compact subwoofer unit along with a remote control and wall-mounting hardware. Basic controls are on top of the soundbar with LED indicators on the front. Out of the box setup is straight forward with the quick start guide included. There is minimal packaging. I connected the mains cables to both the soundbar and subwoofer. Once powered up, I added the soundbar in the SmartThings app and configured Wi-Fi connection to our router. The device was automatically registered with my Samsung account. Within the TV sound menu, I configured the internal TV speakers to work alongside the new soundbar (Q-Symphony). All settings were left as default. I’ve not wall-mounted the unit at this stage, as the TV sits on an AV cabinet. The sound is noticeably clear on standard TV channels. Viewing movies with Atmos sound, provides detailed sound with good loudness and bass that’s not boomy. I played some of the Atmos demo clips and the sound positioning was impressive. I've not noticed any lip-sync issues. Overall, I’m impressed with the size of the units, simplicity of configuration and quality of sound.

Samsung soundbar s801b
First good things - the soundbar sounds really well and much better than my old and bigger LG Atmos soundbar.
But:
1. The instructions are poor: no mention of Alexa or other voice assistants; it says it uses HDMI to MINI HDMI, but it is actually MICRO HDMI cable.
2. I Googled how to connect the soundbar to Alexa - it needs to be done via an iPhone app (no mention of that in the instructions). But the soundbar fails to connect to the internet via this app (even though the app connects to the soundbar), with an error code: 15-200 - “There was a problem connecting to the network with your Soundbar. Make sure your network is working correctly” (Yes it is, every other device is getting perfect wifi and the router is just below the Soundbar. (The help gives some suggestions: - The network name may contain unsupported letters or symbols (seriously Samsung? It doesn’t). - Change the channel of your wi-fi network on your router (every device works fine but for the Soundbar you need to do this??). - Make sure the device is compatible with the security settings of your wi-fi network (you tell me Samsung if your device is compatible or not). Check MAC address filter setting on our router (I've no idea how to do that, nor should I need to - every other device works just fine).) There's no information about this connection anywhere that I can see on your website or on the SmarThings website.
3. Nor your manual, nor your webpage for this product shows what rear speakers this sound bar is compatible with, even though it is presumably compatible with SWA-9500S. (Nor does this webpage says what HDMI type of cable it needs (MICRO) - surely your product managers should be able to keep this updated, so your customers do not get frustrated by buying a wrong thing)
3. But also - Dear Samsung’s product managers/leadership - why when a user is registering for your account, via the SmartThings, in addition to their email address - do you need to collect your customers' personal data?: Full Name, DATE OF BIRTH, PRECISE LOCATION (if approximate location is turned on (which should be easily sufficient- the app is designed not to work, and by the way THE LOCATION SHOULD NOT BE NEEDED AT ALL). Thru the 2FA you insist on customers mobile number (what's so important can be stolen from your customer's account?). Is Samsung going to send your customers birthday cards? Visit them? Maybe you need a copy of their passports too? You ask for users wi-fi name and password - do you have mechanisms that someone will not run those passwords on the users’ email account to see if they can get in? Obviously also all this information will be linked to the users' viewing, playing, apps and browsing history. But what happens when one day you get hacked and all this information is stolen - will you pay $100 compensation to each of your 100s of million users? How do you secure this data, how do you ensure that it is not sold on? Are you not aware of the risks you are running by over-collecting people’s information? Do you keeps this information in the UK or do you transfer them to Korea? You should allow your customers to provide as much information as they want - without coercing them for it, they paid for this expensive soundbar already - what else do you want from them??. THIS IS SUPER UNFAIR AND DISAPPOINTING WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Slim But with great power.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great soundbar. I had one which drive me crazy as each time i change the channel was making the noise in the side spiker. When I installed Samsung all this problem has gone. The sound from it is so perfect and its adapt to the type of what you watch or listen. I really like that its so slim as its not that visible under Tv and also is not affect control signal. On the beginning I was thinking if white colour will looks ok but I love it now as is blended in the white shelve or white wall if i decide to hanging directly on the wall. The great option is that the control not need the battery and its also could be control via app. Great option that you can connect soundbar with your phone an listen music from music app. I definitely love it and recommend to everyone who is sound freak like me and my partner.

Extremely happy
Was blown away with the sound quality coming out of this tiny bar. Simple to connect out of the box. One small gripe since an update for my Samsung tv. The bar can go out of sync, receiving a message telling me that the tv and soundbar are on different frequencies. Needing to pair once again. Sorted in a minute, not a huge deal.
Am extremely happy with my choice and are now looking to add rear speakers
